Vocational Assessments – Find Your Calling

CareerPlan.ca Delivers Career Counselling in Calgary Using The Top, Most Respected, Vocational Assessments
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator helps individuals understand their personality type which is the first step to personal and professional growth. The MBTI® assessment helps individuals understand their strengths, their preferred working styles, and ultimately helps them see their potential. Used individually to provide self-awareness and clarity of purpose, the MBTI assessment also helps create a better understanding and appreciation between team members and colleagues – enabling them to work better together.

“When used as professional development tool for leaders, the impact of the MBTI® assessment is visible almost immediately. Just the self-awareness it brings is powerful. When used with teams, it is a great first step in improving communication, establishing mutual respect between team members, and much more.” – Donna Draper, Vice President, HR, IDE Management Group

The Psychometrics 360 Assessment
The Psychometrics 360 assessment provides straightforward and intuitive multi-source feedback to help leaders quickly identify their strengths and developmental needs. The clarity of the Psychometrics 360 report lets leaders easily recognize key themes in the feedback from others and take actionable steps for growth.  Assessing 24 leadership competencies, the Psychometrics 360 report improves self-awareness in three key areas.  The assessment has a simple and easy-to-use interface, ensures rater confidentiality, and collects feedback from supervisors, coworkers, direct reports and others, providing concrete feedback on leaders’ behaviours and how these behaviours affect their colleagues.
The Strong Interest Inventory
The Strong Interest Inventory provides guidance to individuals for  identifying careers that suit their strengths, preferences and abilities. The Strong Interest Inventory® assessment is one of the world’s most respected and widely used career planning tools. It provides robust insights into a person’s career interests. It helps them discover potential careers they may not have considered and gives them a wealth of information about how they approach the world of work.  The Strong measures your client’s interest in a broad range of occupations, work activities, leisure activities, and school subjects. The questionnaire compares how these interests are similar to the interests of people successfully employed in those occupations. It is used to help people understand their work interests and to illustrate the kinds of work in which they might be most satisfied.
The FIRO-B® (Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation-Behavior™) Instrument
The FIRO-B® (Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation-Behavior™) Instrument helps individuals understand their behavior and the behavior of others. With the insights of an individual’s interpersonal needs it can help improve workplace interactions.

The FIRO-B®:

  • Provides critical insights into how an individual’s need for inclusion, control and affection can shape his or her interactions with others
  • Can be used in one-on-one coaching, small groups or teams
  • The assessment can be integrated in team-building initiatives, management training programs and communication workshops

Visioning & Planning – Reach Your Career Goals

The number one benefit of career planning is that it will increase your self-awareness and confidence having a positive impact on your career, relationships and ability to manage change when it comes.  At CareerPlan.ca we help you clarify your priorities, personal brand, and career marketing strategy.

  5. Purposeful Communication
  6. Perpetual Growth
  7. Radical Self-Awareness

As you look at how you currently spend your time, ask yourself, “am I in a job, a career, or a calling?”  Finding your purpose and passion is about living your calling.  The most successful businesses and professionals identify the one thing they do best and then do it with passion.

We provide you with information, tools and support to help you make the best possible decisions and achieve your full potential. Your career plan is about discovering your purpose and passion.  Together we clarify your goals, explore current state and identify next steps to realize your desired future.  We provide one-on-one counselling services either in person or on-line.  At the end of the five-session Career Plan program which takes an average of three months to complete, you will have a comprehensive plan including a vision and mission statement for your career.

The process begins with an initial consultation so that we can be sure you will receive the kind of assistance you are hoping for and ensure our services will be of value to you (there is no fee for this).  If we decide to move forward, we will schedule an appointment and your counselor will ask you to complete some pre-session paper work.  You can complete the program entirely on-line (by video conference meetings), or a combination of on-line and face to face appointments.

With a career plan you will:

  • Enhance Performance: Explore your current life roles and identify how to strengthen your relationships and career performance.
  • Know your strengths: Identify strengths and set goals to achieve your full potential assisting you with making meaningful choices and advancements.
  • Have a ‘big picture’ view: Envision how a specific relationship, job or responsibility fits into your overall plan so you can take ownership of your success.
  • Transition more easily when change occurs: Know what skills and strengths you can rely on as you encounter change throughout life.
  • Advance in your career: Clarify and proactively invest in the skills and training you need to take on increasing responsibility.
  • Be more satisfied: Move in a direction that aligns with your personal passion, desired lifestyle, interests, purpose, and financial goals.

Considering advanced education or learning?

Individuals who embark on a field of study without a plan may quickly lose interest and drop out.  Or even worse, complete a costly program and graduate with a degree or credential you do not know what to do with.  Education is a costly investment of time and money, so make the best use of your educational pursuits by first answering these questions:

Who am I and what is my purpose?
What is my desired destination?
How will I get there?

Whether you have many years of experience or are just starting your career, a clear plan for your career will help you to be successful in your relationships and in your life, having clear purpose, direction, and personal satisfaction.  At the end of the one-on-one planning program you will have a comprehensive plan to help you achieve your full potential.  Reach your goals with the support of career counselling in Calgary.
